    PERFECT LIGHTING

WHAT IS A LIGHT STUDY?

A lighting study is an analysis of how light behaves in a particular environment, such as a building or outdoor space. This type of study involves determining the optimal lighting levels for different activities, assessing the impact of natural versus artificial lighting and identifying potential sources of glare or shadows.

WHY DO I NEED A LIGHTING STUDIO?

OPTIMISE LIGHTING CONDITIONS

Identify the most effective lighting conditions for a particular environment or task. For example, a lighting survey can be used to determine the optimal lighting levels for a workplace or to identify ways to reduce glare or improve visibility in a particular area.

IMPROVING ENERGY EFFICIENCY

Identify opportunities to reduce energy consumption and costs associated with lighting. By analysing the current lighting system and identifying areas for improvement, a lighting study can help reduce energy waste and promote sustainability.

IMPROVING SECURITY

Identify potential security problems associated with the lighting system. For example, a lighting survey may identify poorly lit areas that could pose a security risk, or ways to improve the visibility of security cameras in a particular area.

SUPPORT AESTHETIC AND DESIGN OBJECTIVES

By exploring different lighting options and analysing how light behaves in a particular environment, a lighting study can help create the desired ambience or atmosphere and improve the overall aesthetic appeal of a space.

HOW DO WE DO IT?

PRELIMINARY ASSESSMENT

This consists of a review of the project requirements, objectives and constraints. We work with the client to determine the scope, budget and schedule of the project. In addition, we gather information about the space to be lit, such as its size, shape and intended use.

CONCEPTUAL DESIGN

Based on the preliminary assessment, we develop a conceptual lighting design. This may include sketches, renderings or 3D models to illustrate the proposed lighting scheme. We also select appropriate luminaires, lamps and control systems.

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

Once the client approves the conceptual design, we refine the lighting scheme and develop detailed plans and specifications. We will coordinate with other members of the project team, such as architects, engineers and contractors, to ensure that the lighting design is seamlessly integrated into the overall project.

INSTALLATION AND COMMISSIONING

Once the lighting system is installed, we monitor its commissioning to ensure that it meets the design objectives. This may involve adjusting lighting levels, colours and angles to achieve the desired effect.

POST-COMMISSIONING EVALUATION

After the lighting system is in use, we conduct a post-occupancy evaluation to determine whether the lighting design is meeting the client’s objectives and expectations.
